The double-polarization observable $E$ and the helicity-dependent cross sections $\sigma_{1/2}$ and $\sigma_{3/2}$ have been measured for the first time for single $\pi^{0}$ photoproduction from protons and neutrons bound in the deuteron at the electron accelerator facility MAMI in Mainz, Germany. The experiment used a circularly polarized photon beam and a longitudinally polarized deuterated butanol target. The reaction products, recoil nucleons and decay photons from the $\pi^0$ meson were detected with the Crystal Ball and TAPS electromagnetic calorimeters. Read More

High statistics measurements of the photon asymmetry $\mathrm{\Sigma}$ for the $\overrightarrow{\gamma}$p$\rightarrow\pi^{0}$p reaction have been made in the center of mass energy range W=1214-1450 MeV. The data were measured with the MAMI A2 real photon beam and Crystal Ball/TAPS detector systems in Mainz, Germany. We present the first morpho-kinematical analysis of the planetary nebulae Kn 61 and Pa 5 and explore the nature of their central stars. We propose a new framework for censorship-resistant web browsing called {\it CensorSpoofer} that addresses this challenge by exploiting the asymmetric nature of web browsing traffic and making use of IP spoofing. We present low-resolution phase-resolved spectra of the polar MT Dra during its high states in 2006 and 2009. Balmer series, He I and He II 4686 \AA\ emission lines have complex shapes and show similar profile variations over an orbital cycle. We present the results of our spectropolarimetric observations for a number of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) carried out at the 6-m telescope with the SCORPIO focal reducer. The derived wavelength dependences of the polarization have been analyzed by taking into account the Faraday rotation of the polarization plane on the photon mean free path in a magnetized accretion disk. As a result, based on traditional accretion disk models, we have determined the magnetic field strength and distribution and a number of physical parameters of the accreting plasma in the region where the optical radiation is generated. Single-spin asymmetries $A_N$ in reactions p+p(pol)->\pi^0 + X and \pi^-+p(pol)->\pi^0 + X at 50 and 40 GeV/c respectively behave in drastically different ways in function of transverse momentum in the central region. At the same time $A_N$ in the polarized proton fragmentation region of these reactions are practically coinciding. Our new data on the analyzing power at 50 GeV/c in the polarized proton fragmentation region in reaction p+p(pol)->\pi^0 + X confirm this conclusion with better statistics and coincide with our previous data at 70 GeV/c for the same reaction.
