This paper focuses on a passivity-based distributed reference governor (RG) applied to a pre-stabilized mobile robotic network. The novelty of this paper lies in the method used to solve the RG problem, where a passivity-based distributed optimization scheme is proposed. In particular, the gradient descent method minimizes the global objective function while the dual ascent method maximizes the Hamiltonian. Read More

In this paper, we address a general eigenstructure assignment problem where the objective is to distribute the closed-loop modes over the components of the system outputs in such a way that, if a certain mode appears in a given output, it is unobservable from any of the other output components. By linking classical geometric control results with the theory of combinatorics, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of this problem, herein referred to as state-to-output decoupling, under very mild assumptions. We propose solvability conditions expressed in terms of the dimensions of suitably defined controlled invariant subspaces of the system. Read More

This paper focuses on the control of a system composed of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) which cooperate to manipulate an object. The two units are subject to actuator saturations and cooperate to move the object to a desired pose, characterized by its position and inclination. The paper proposes a control strategy where the ground vehicle is tasked to deploy the object to a certain position, whereas the aerial vehicle adjusts its inclination. Read More

This paper introduces a novel closed-form strategy that dynamically modifies the reference of a pre-compensated nonlinear system to ensure the satisfaction of a set of convex constraints. The main idea consists of translating constraints in the state space into constraints on the Lyapunov function and then modulating the reference velocity so as to limit the value of the Lyapunov function. The theory is introduced for general nonlinear systems subject to convex constraints. Read More

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) enable a wealth of new applications where remote estimation is essential. Individual sensors simultaneously sense a dynamic process and transmit measured information over a shared channel to a central fusion center. The fusion center computes an estimate of the process state by means of a Kalman filter. Read More
