We report the first beam-target double-polarization asymmetries in the $\gamma + n(p) \rightarrow \pi^- + p(p)$ reaction spanning the nucleon resonance region from invariant mass $W$= $1500$ to $2300$ MeV. Circularly polarized photons and longitudinally polarized deuterons in $H\!D$ have been used with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. The exclusive final state has been extracted using three very different analyses that show excellent agreement, and these have been used to deduce the {\it{E}} polarization observable for an effective neutron target. Experimental results on the $\Sigma^+(1189)$ hyperon transverse polarization in photoproduction on a hydrogen target using the CLAS detector at Jefferson laboratory are presented. The $\Sigma^+(1189)$ was reconstructed in the exclusive reaction $\gamma+p\rightarrow K^{0}_{S} + \Sigma^+(1189)$ via the $\Sigma^{+} \to p \pi^{0}$ decay mode. The $K^{0}_S$ was reconstructed in the invariant mass of two oppositely charged pions with the $\pi^0$ identified in the missing mass of the detected $p\pi^+\pi^-$ final state. Read More

The exclusive electroproduction of $\pi^+$ above the resonance region was studied using the $\rm{CEBAF}$ Large Acceptance Spectrometer ($\rm{CLAS}$) at Jefferson Laboratory by scattering a 6 GeV continuous electron beam off a hydrogen target. The large acceptance and good resolution of $\rm{CLAS}$, together with the high luminosity, allowed us to measure the cross section for the $\gamma^* p \to n \pi^+$ process in 140 ($Q^2$, $x_B$, $t$) bins: $0.16Read More

We report observation of a narrow peak structure at ~1.54 GeV with a Gaussian width sigma=6 MeV in the missing of K_s in the reaction gamma+p = pK_sK_L. The observed structure may be due to the interference between a strange (or anti-strange) baryon resonance in the pK_L system and the phi(K_sK_L) photoproduction leading to the same final state. We have measured the 3He(e,e'pp)n reaction at an incident energy of 4.7 GeV over a wide kinematic range. We identified spectator correlated pp and pn nucleon pairs using kinematic cuts and measured their relative and total momentum distributions. Read More

We present measurements of net charge fluctuations in $Au + Au$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = $ 19.6, 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV, $Cu + Cu$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = $ 62. Read More

We have studied U+U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV using Monte Carlo Glauber, UrQMD and AMPT models. We find that it is possible to separate central tip-tip events as well as central body-body events on the basis of cuts on multiplicity and magnitude of the reduced flow vector. Read More

Collisions of deformed uranium nuclei are studied in a Monte-Carlo Glauber model. For U+U at zero impact parameter (b=0) in the most favorable orientation (tip-to-tip), the transverse particle density (charged-particle rapidity density per weighted transverse area of the initial participant zone) increases by about 35% compared to Au+Au at b=0. To estimate the advantage of U+U over Au+Au in the context of real experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, we examine the effect of a range of centrality cuts on the event sample.
