We give a precision analysis of the correlation coefficients of the electron-energy spectrum and angular distribution of the beta decay and radiative beta decay of the neutron with polarized neutron and electron to order 10^(-3). The calculation of correlation coefficients is carried out within the Standard model with contributions of order 10^(-3), caused by the weak magnetism and proton recoil, taken to next-to-leading order in the large proton mass expansion, and with radiative corrections of order "alpha/pi ~ 10^(-3", calculated to leading order in the large proton mass expansion. The obtained results can be used for the planning of experiments on the search for contributions of order 10^(-4) of interactions beyond the Standard model. Read More

The present paper provides a method for finding partial differential equations satisfied by the Feynman integrals for diagrams of various types, using the Griffiths theorem on the reduction of poles of rational differential forms. As an application, an algorithm for computing partial differential equations satisfied by Feynman integrals for diagrams of a ladder type is described. Read More

The origin of colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) is still controversial. The spin dynamics of La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$MnO$_3$ is revisited along the Mn-O-Mn direction at $x\leq 0.5$, $T\leq T_C$ with a new study at $x$=0. Read More

Condensed-matter analogs of the Higgs boson in particle physics allow insights into its behavior in different symmetries and dimensionalities. Evidence for the Higgs mode has been reported in a number of different settings, including ultracold atomic gases, disordered superconductors, and dimerized quantum magnets. However, decay processes of the Higgs mode (which are eminently important in particle physics) have not yet been studied in condensed matter due to the lack of a suitable material system coupled to a direct experimental probe. The first measurement of transverse-spin-dependent azimuthal asymmetries in the pion-induced Drell-Yan (DY) process is reported. We use the CERN SPS 190 GeV/$c$, $\pi^{-}$ beam and a transversely polarized ammonia target. Three azimuthal asymmetries giving access to different transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs) are extracted using dimuon events with invariant mass between 4. We describe new irreducible components of the Gieseker-Maruyama moduli scheme $\mathcal{M}(3)$ of semistable rank 2 coherent sheaves with Chern classes $c_1=0,\ c_2=3,\ c_3=0$ on $\mathbb{P}^3$, general points of which correspond to sheaves whose singular loci contain components of dimensions both 0 and 1. These sheaves are produced by elementary transformations of stable reflexive rank 2 sheaves with $c_1=0,\ c_2=2,\ c_3=2$ or 4 along a disjoint union of a projective line and a collection of points in $\mathbb{P}^3$. The constructed families of sheaves provide first examples of irreducible components of the Gieseker-Maruyama moduli scheme such that their general sheaves have singularities of mixed dimension. Autonomous exploration and multi-object tracking by a team of agents have traditionally been considered as two separate, yet related, problems which are usually solved in two phases: an exploration phase then a tracking phase. The exploration problem is usually viewed through an information theoretic framework where a robotic agent attempts to gather as much information about the environment or an Object of Interest (OI). Conversely, the tracking problem attempts to maintain precise location information about an OI over time. Read More

We modify the path integral representation of exciton transport in open quantum systems such that an exact description of the quantum fluctuations around the classical evolution of the system is possible. As a consequence, the time evolution of the system observables is obtained by calculating the average of a stochastic difference equation which is weighted with a product of pseudo-probability density functions. From the exact equation of motion one can clearly identify the terms that are also present if we apply the truncated Wigner approximation. Read More

We extend the Nakajima-Zwanzig projection operator technique to the determination of multitime correlation functions of open quantum systems. The correlation functions are expressed in terms of certain multitime homogeneous and inhomogeneous memory kernels for which suitable equations of motion are derived. We show that under the condition of finite memory times these equations can be used to determine the memory kernels by employing an exact stochastic unraveling of the full system-environment dynamics. In this work, we study the extent to which structural connectomes and topological derivative measures are unique to individual changes within human brains. To do so, we classify structural connectome pairs from two large longitudinal datasets as either belonging to the same individual or not. Our data is comprised of 227 individuals from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and 226 from the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI). Read More

In the Standard Model of electroweak interactions and in the tree--approximation we calculate the rate and branching ratio of the neutron radiative beta decay with one-real photon emission by taking into account the contributions of the weak magnetism and proton recoil to order 1/m_p of the large proton mass m_p expansion. We find that the obtained contributions of the weak magnetism and proton recoil increase the rate and branching ratio of the neutron radiative beta decay by about 0.70%. Read More

We discuss the side resonances of optically detected magnetic resonance in diamond crystal and propose the new approach to the calculation of hyperfine interaction in composed system, consisted of negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy NV- center and nearby 13C nuclear spin. The Sivers function describes the correlation between the transverse spin of a nucleon and the transverse motion of its partons. It was extracted from measurements of the azimuthal asymmetry of hadrons produced in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of leptons off transversely polarised nucleon targets, and it turned out to be non-zero for quarks. In this letter the evaluation of the Sivers asymmetry for gluons in the same process is presented. Read More

Combined action of weak and strong pinning centers on the vortex lattice complicates magnetic behavior of a superconductor since temperature and magnetic field differently affect weak and strong pinning. In this paper we show that contributions of weak and strong pinning into magnetization of the layered superconductor YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-\delta}$ can be separated and analyzed individually. We performed a careful analysis of temperature behavior of the relaxed superconducting current $J$ in YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-\delta}$ films which revealed two components of the current $J = J_1 +J_2$. Efficient robotic exploration of unknown, sensor limited, global-information-deficient environments poses unique challenges to path planning algorithms. In these difficult environments, no deterministic guarantees on path completion and mission success can be made in general. Integrated Exploration (IE), which strives to combine localization and exploration, must be solved in order to create an autonomous robotic system capable of long term operation in new and challenging environments. Deep-learning metrics have recently demonstrated extremely good performance to match image patches for stereo reconstruction. However, training such metrics requires large amount of labeled stereo images, which can be difficult or costly to collect for certain applications. The main contribution of our work is a new semi-supervised method for learning deep metrics from unlabeled stereo images, given coarse information about the scenes and the optical system. Read More

Final results are presented from the inclusive measurement of deep-inelastic polarised-muon scattering on longitudinally polarised deuterons using a $^6$LiD target. The data were taken at $160~{\rm GeV}$ beam energy and the results are shown for the kinematic range $1~({\rm GeV}/c)^2 < Q^2 < 100~({\rm GeV}/c)^2$ in photon virtuality, $0.004Read More

The magnetic-field dependencies of the longitudinal and Hall resistivity of the electron-doped compounds $Nd_{2-x}Ce_xCuO_{4+\delta}$ in underdoped region (x=0.14) were investigated. It was established experimentally a strong magnetic field dependence of the Hall conductivity, $\sigma_{xy}(B)=C-b/B$, in the region of magnetic fields corresponding to a transition from superconducting to resistive state. Recent theoretical work has shown that spin $1/2$ particles moving through unpolarized matter which sources torsion fields experience a new type of parity-even and time-reversal-odd optical potential if the matter is spinning in the lab frame. This new type of optical potential can be sought experimentally using the helicity dependence of the total cross sections for longitudinally polarized neutrons moving through a rotating cylindrical target. In combination with recent experimental constraints on short-range P--odd, T--even torsion interactions derived from polarized neutron spin rotation in matter one can derive separate constraints on the time components of scalar and pseudoscalar torsion fields in matter. The Dotsenko-Fateev integral is an analytic function of one complex variable expressing the amplitude in the 4-point correlator of the 2D conformal field theory. Dotsenko-Fateev found ODE of third order with Fuchsian singularities satisfied by their integral. In the present paper, this work is extended to generalized Dotsenko-Fateev integrals, in particular those associated to arbitrary multipoint correlators, and Pfaff systems of PDE of Fuchsian type are constructed for them. The clathrate compound Ce3Pd20Si6 is a heavy-fermion metal that exhibits magnetically hidden order at low temperatures. Reputedly, this exotic type of magnetic ground state, known as "phase II", could be associated with the ordering of Ce 4f quadrupolar moments. In contrast to conventional (dipolar) order, it has vanishing Bragg intensity in zero magnetic field and, as a result, has escaped direct observation by neutron scattering until now. Read More

Proton transverse-spin azimuthal asymmetries are extracted from the COMPASS 2010 semi-inclusive hadron measurements in deep inelastic muon-nucleon scattering in those four regions of the photon virtuality $Q^2$, which correspond to the four regions of the di-muon mass $\sqrt{Q^2}$ used in the ongoing analysis of the COMPASS Drell-Yan measurements. This allows for a future direct comparison of the nucleon transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions extracted from these two alternative measurements. Various two-dimensional kinematic dependences are presented for the azimuthal asymmetries induced by the Sivers transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution function. Read More

Single hadron azimuthal asymmetries in the cross sections of positive and negative hadron production in muon semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off longitudinally polarised deuterons are determined using the 2006 COMPASS data and also all deuteron COMPASS data. For each hadron charge, the dependence of the azimuthal asymmetry on the hadron azimuthal angle $\phi$ is obtained by means of a five-parameter fitting function that besides a $\phi$-independent term includes four modulations predicted by theory: $\sin\phi$, $\sin 2 \phi$, $\sin 3\phi$ and $\cos\phi$. The amplitudes of the five terms have been first extracted for the data integrated over all kinematic variables. Read More

While for a long time iron based superconductors have been investigated looking at the average crystalline structure there is now growing interest on the divergence of local from the average structure. Here we use advanced data analysis of EXAFS, a fast and local probe, which has key advantages compared to crystallographic measurements, in unveiling the dynamics of the local structure. The results show that the Fe-As pair oscillates in the double-well potential both in undoped and in cobalt doped LaFeAsO crystals. Read More

Precise measurements of charged-kaon multiplicities in deep inelastic scattering were performed. The results are presented in three-dimensional bins of the Bjorken scaling variable x, the relative virtual-photon energy y, and the fraction z of the virtual-photon energy carried by the produced hadron. The data were obtained by the COMPASS Collaboration by scattering 160 GeV muons off an isoscalar 6 LiD target. Read More

In mixed-valence or heavy-fermion systems, the hybridization between local $f$ orbitals and conduction band states can cause the suppression of long-range magnetic order, which competes with strong spin fluctuations. Ce- and Yb-based systems have been found to exhibit fascinating physical properties (heavy-fermion superconductivity, non-Fermi-liquid states, etc.) when tuned to the vicinity of magnetic quantum critical points by use of various external control parameters (temperature, magnetic field, chemical composition). We analyse the Einstein-Cartan gravity in its standard form cal-R = R + cal-K^2, where cal-R and R are the Ricci scalar curvatures in the Einstein-Cartan and Einstein gravity, respectively, and cal-K^2 is the quadratic contribution of torsion in terms of the contorsion tensor cal-K. We treat torsion as an external (or a background) field and show that the contribution of torsion to the Einstein equations can be interpreted in terms of the torsion energy-momentum tensor, local conservation of which in a curved spacetime with an arbitrary metric or an arbitrary gravitational field demands a proportionality of the torsion energy--momentum tensor to a metric tensor, a covariant derivative of which vanishes because of the metricity condition. This allows to claim that torsion can serve as origin for vacuum energy density, given by cosmological constant or dark energy density in the Universe. Read More

We analyse the Friedmann-Einstein equations for the Universe evolution with the expansion parameter $a$ dependent on time only in the Einstein gravity with the chameleon field, changing its mass in dependence of a density of its environment. We show that the chameleon field can be identified with quintessence (a canonical scalar field responsible for the late-time acceleration of the Universe expansion and dark energy dynamics) if and only if the radiation rho_r(a) and matter rho_m(a) (dark and baryon matter) densities in the Universe evolution differ from their standard dependence on the expansion parameter a, i.e. Read More

We present a measurement of the total {\it WW} and {\it WZ} production cross sections in $p\bar{p}$ collision at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV, in a final state consistent with leptonic $W$ boson decay and jets originating from heavy-flavor quarks from either a $W$ or a $Z$ boson decay. This analysis uses the full data set collected with the CDF II detector during Run II of the Tevatron collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9. Read More

We calculate the chameleon field profile, confined between two parallel plates, filled with air at pressure $P = 10^{-4}\,{\rm mbar}$ and room temperature and separated by the distance $L$, in the chameleon field theory with Ratra--Peebles self--interaction potential with index $n = 1$. We give the exact analytical solution in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions, depending on the mass density of the ambient matter. The obtained analytical solution can be used in qBounce experiments, measuring transition frequencies between quantum gravitational states of ultracold neutrons and also for the calculation of the chameleon field induced Casimir force for the CANNEX experiment. At the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton ($p\bar{p}$) collider, Drell-Yan lepton pairs are produced in the process $p \bar{p} \rightarrow e^+e^- + X$ through an intermediate $\gamma^*/Z$ boson. The forward-backward asymmetry in the polar-angle distribution of the $e^-$ as a function of the $e^+e^-$-pair mass is used to obtain $\sin^2\theta^{\rm lept}_{\rm eff}$, the effective leptonic determination of the electroweak-mixing parameter $\sin^2\theta_W$. The measurement sample, recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF), corresponds to 9. Read More

In the present paper we investigate the metric space $\cal M$ consisting of isometry classes of compact metric spaces, endowed with the Gromov-Hausdorff metric. We show that for any finite subset $M$ from a sufficiently small neighborhood of a generic finite metric space, providing $M$ consists of finite metric spaces with the same number of points, each Steiner minimal tree in $\cal M$ connecting $M$ is a minimal filling for $M$. As a consequence, we prove that the both Steiner ratio and Gromov-Steiner ratio of $\cal M$ are equal to $1/2$. Read More

We investigate the geometry of the family $\cal M$ of isometry classes of compact metric spaces, endowed with the Gromov-Hausdorff metric. We show that sufficiently small neighborhoods of generic finite spaces in the subspace of all finite metric spaces with the same number of points are isometric to some neighborhoods in the space ${\mathbb R}^N_{\infty}$, i.e. Read More

An essential step toward elucidating the mechanism of superconductivity is to determine the sign/phase of superconducting order parameter, as it is closely related to the pairing interaction. In conventional superconductors, the electron-phonon interaction induces attraction between electrons near the Fermi energy and results in a sign-preserved s-wave pairing. For high-temperature superconductors, including cuprates and iron-based superconductors, prevalent weak coupling theories suggest that the electron pairing is mediated by spin fluctuations which lead to repulsive interactions, and therefore that a sign-reversed pairing with an s+-or d-wave symmetry is favored. We introduce irreducible correspondences that enables us to calculate the Gromov--Hausdorff distances effectively. By means of these correspondences, we show that the set of all metric spaces each consisting of no more than $3$ points is isometric to a polyhedral cone in the space $R^3$ endowed with the maximum norm. We prove that for any $3$-point metric space such that all the triangle inequalities are strict in it, there exists a neighborhood such that the Steiner minimal trees (in Gromov-Hausdorff space) with boundaries from this neighborhood are minimal fillings, i. The standard perturbative weak-coupling expansions in lattice models are asymptotic. The reason for this is hidden in the incorrect interchange of the summation and integration. However, substituting the Gaussian initial approximation of the perturbative expansions by a certain interacting model or regularizing original lattice integrals, one can construct desired convergent series.
