We present Fermi-LAT and multi-frequency, multi-epoch VLBA data for the TeV blazar Mrk421. We collected the data during a long and intensive multi-frequency campaign in 2011. We study the gamma-ray light curve, the photon index evolution and their connection to the radio data on sub-parsec scales, including total intensity, polarized flux density, polarization angle, spectral index, and rotation measure both in the core and the jet region. At the COMPASS experiment, diffractive dissociation of the beam proton is one of the dominant processes for the 190GeV/c positive hadron beam impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. The status of the analysis of the reactions pp -> p_f pi^+ pi^- p_s and pp -> p_f K^+ K^- p_s is presented, where dominant features of the light-baryon spectrum become clearly visible. We present results of a signature-based search for new physics using a dijet plus missing transverse energy data sample collected in 2 fb-1 of p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. More than two years of fluorescence detector data collected in coincidence with at least one station of the surface detector array (``hybrid data'') are used to measure the flux and energy spectrum of cosmic rays above about 10$^{18}$ eV. The hybrid measurement extends towards lower energies the spectrum measured with the surface detector data only, and provides a cross-check with an independent data set. We propose an improved version of the redshift indicator developed by Atteia (2003), which gets rid of the dependence on the burst duration and provides better estimates for high-redshift GRBs. We present the derivation and the definition of this redshift indicator, then its calibration with 17 GRBs with known redshifts detected by HETE-2 and 2 more detected by Konus-Wind. We also provide an estimation of the redshift for 59 bursts, and we finally discuss the redshift distribution of HETE-bursts and the possible other applications of this redshift indicator. Read More

Gamma rays in the band from 20 MeV to 300 GeV, used in combination with data from radio and X-ray bands, provide a powerful tool for studying the origin of cosmic rays in our sister galaxies Andromeda and the Magellanic Clouds. Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST) will spatially resolve these galaxies and measure the spectrum and intensity of diffuse gamma radiation from the collisions of cosmic rays with gas and dust in them. Observations of Andromeda will give an external perspective on a spiral galaxy like the Milky Way. Read More
